It's that time again, when I sift through the deluge of new fantasy books in Kindle Unlimited so you don't have to!

A quick reminder of my criteria:

• Kindle Unlimited books released in the last month
• In the Amazon Sword & Sorcery category
• Medieval fantasy
• Not romantasy (a little canoodling goes a long way for me)
• Not grimdark (real life is depressing enough)
• Not LitRPG, progression, etc. (I like the classics)
• Likable-sounding MCs and supportive communities
• Magical creatures are always a plus!

For series, I'm flagging the latest entry here, but of course you may want start with the first entry if it's not one you're already following. Or live dangerously and plunge in mid-stream... YOLO!

Here are my picks for August:

1. Guild Mage: The Lady of Winter by David Niemitz
